Papenburg is a German city in the county of Emsland (Lower Saxony). It is situated in the northern part of the county Emsland at the river Ems. Papenburg is subdivided into six urban districts Papenburg-Untenende, Papenburg-Obenende, Herbrum, Tunxdorf-Nenndorf, Aschendorf and Bokel. Papenburg was founded in year 1635 and has a population of 38.573.
